Piper's visit to Hershey Park

Earlier this month we took Piper to Hershey Park to see the pretty lights and meet a few other babies.  We met up with a few other mom's from a message board that I frequent and walked through the park with them and their little ones.

It snowed that day, which made the drive a little more difficult, but made the walk through the park so much prettier (and colder).

Piper didn't get to see Santa, but she did get to see his reindeer.  They were all there, relaxing and getting ready for their big night on Christmas Eve.

Here are a few of our favorite pictures from the day.

All bundled up and ready for the snow.

Piper was bundled up too in her new winter coat.

She really liked looking at the reindeer.

This was Dasher's stall.  Right next to his buddy Dancer.

Piper has sophisticated taste

We've been trying to give Piper more finger foods and letting her feed herself.  Lately it's been a lot of carrots, bananas, apples, sweet potatoes, or Cheerios.  Tonight I was making a quinoa dish for dinner so I made a little extra quinoa for Piper.  I also steamed some carrots for her, as a veggie.  If you've never had quinoa, it's an ancient grain that the Incas cultivated because of it's high protein content and slightly smoky taste.  Well, it's actually a seed rather than a grain, but either way, it's delicious!

And Piper loved it!  Needless to say this was one of our messier meals (i.e. Jason scooped Piper up after dinner and had to hold her over the sink to shake off the excess food), but she was so excited!  Piper already loves carrots, but she kept shoveling the quinoa into her mouth as fast as she could.

Jason & I were also having asparagus tonight and someone (I won't mention names) didn't finish his asparagus.  So that someone gave Piper a little bit of his leftover asparagus.  And she loved it!  Hopefully this adventurous palate keeps up into the toddler years.  Keep your fingers crossed.
